Yeah, strong winds can sometimes snap off live branches, if they have been stressed enough. It’s not likely a live tree will be downed by wind, although it can happen if the soil is wet or has become loosened. Then the weight of the tree plus water or snow accumulated on it can uproot it, although sometimes trees only partially uprooted can survive the ordeal and keep on living at a funny angle. Anyway, keep us posted.
