It’s like you’ve heard a zillion times before: first you need to know the rules, then you can break them creatively. Or, to paraphrase a famous fictional pirate, “They’re more what you call guidelines than actual rules.” Or, as Ray Bradbury said, “I was educated in libraries.” (Or maybe he didn’t exactly say that, but he was, anyway.) Or, as Isaac Asimov said, “I never learned ‘How To Write.’” Or, as my wife said in response, “Yeah, I can tell.” (She isn’t much of an Asimov fan. She likes to point out that every single one of his stories starts with somebody’s name.)
But this is getting waaaay too serious for a comment on a humor piece. Go write something unfamous, breaking all the rules, and post it on Medium as an example of what to do to get famous. How many people do you think will emulate you? ;-)
